Stud Country

Alexandra Kern, Lina Abascal

A line dancing event in Los Angeles continues the (very under-documented) 50 year history of queer line dancing in the city.

Why we chose this film.

Through a deep-dive into line dance culture, this film showcases the power of creative expression to bring people together across generations.

Inspiration

While we hope the ephemeral feeling of dancing at Stud Country and the beautiful visuals hook audiences, our intention is to use the dance night as a vessel to discuss deeper themes about the importance of community spaces and rhythmic movement’s profound role in creating and sustaining communities.
