Why we chose this film.

Human-animal bonds are more powerful than many of us realize, reducing feelings of loneliness and improving pet parents' overall wellbeing. This film showcases the role dogs can play in helping veterans navigate the loneliness of PTSD and take steps towards connection.

Inspiration

As a lifelong dog owner, I’ve always understood the special role animals play in our lives. Learning about the impact of the dogs at Project Kenny opened my eyes to the profound strength of their bond with veterans. These dogs are not just companions—they are lifelines, helping heal emotional scars and giving veterans the courage to face daily challenges. I made A Dog Can Make A Difference to showcase the life-saving connection between service dogs and veterans with PTSD and highlight the incredible work of Project Kenny. My hope is that this film gives a voice to those struggling in silence and encourages veterans to seek the support they deserve.

Spencer, a Seattle native, earned his bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from The Ohio State University before returning to Washington to pursue his passion for filmmaking. Beginning his career as an editor, he later transitioned into production, contributing to projects spanning corporate commercials to nonprofit fundraisers. Spencer is committed to crafting emotional and engaging stories that inspire others.
